Goal Statement
The goal is to implement a user-friendly inventory management and point-of-sale (POS) web application with role-based access control (RBAC) for Bappu's baby shops. This system will enhance the inventory management system, streamline operations and improve overall efficiency across all stores.
Learnings
Designing a complete inventory management web application as my first freelance project in my Product Design journey taught me the critical importance of user research, iterative design, and effective communication with clients. I learned to balance complex functionality with intuitive user interfaces, prioritize usability through continuous feedback loops, and adapt designs based on evolving project requirements.
This experience emphasized the need for meticulous attention to detail, the ability to solve real-world user problems, and the importance of delivering a seamless and efficient user experience in a professional setting.
Interview Goal:
I want to understand common challenges/frustrations client experience during the whole process of inventory management.
Interview Questions:
How do you currently manage inventory? - client explained the whole process they do in routine.
Do you use any product currently and what are the problems with the current product? - Had a Demo of current product.
What are the expectations from the current product? - explained all the features they expect from us.
Introduction
Background:
Bappu's Baby Shop, a family-owned business, offers a wide range of baby products including clothing, toys, furniture, and accessories. With a steady increase in sales and inventory complexity, the shop faced challenges in managing stock levels, tracking sales, and maintaining accurate financial records.
The existing system is time-consuming, needs manual works as it does not have all the requirements, not user friendly and hindered the shop's growth potential.
As they expand to multiple locations, they require a system that can efficiently manage inventory and sales across all their stores from a single location. Additionally, the system should be user-friendly, as the staff may not be tech-savvy.
